A Cozy Cove Just Beyond the Pier

Sang Wan Beach is a small, welcoming beach just a short walk from Tawaen Beach Pier. Its cozy setting makes it a lovely place to settle in, enjoy the seaside scenery, and spend a few unhurried hours by the water.

To reach it after stepping off the ferry, walk back along the pier toward the shore and look for the wooden walkway on your right. This little footbridge follows the rocky coastline, making the walk to the beach part of the experience.

As you arrive, one of the most distinctive sights is a restaurant shaped like a giant wooden boat. It adds a playful touch to the beachfront and offers a convenient place to stop for a meal between visits to the sand and sea.

For visitors who would like to linger longer, a small collection of attractive tent-style accommodations offers the chance to stay overnight. With its compact shoreline, unusual restaurant, and scenic approach, Sang Wan has a charm all its own.

Experiencing the Beach

• The Wooden Walkway: Sangwan Beach is connected to Tawaen Beach and the Tawaen Pier via a scenic, winding wooden boardwalk built along the rocky hillside. It offers beautiful views of the clear turquoise water crashing against the rocks below.

• The Vibe: Unlike its neighbor Tawaen, which is famous for busy water sports and large tour crowds, Sangwan is much quieter, shorter (around 150 meters long), and perfect for swimming or lounging on daybeds.

• Unique Dining: The beach features beachfront dining setups, including themed open-air restaurants like the one pictured, where you can enjoy fresh seafood, local Thai dishes, and cold drinks right next to the white sand.

How to Get There

1. Ferry from Pattaya: Take the public ferry from Bali Hai Pier in Pattaya directly to Tawaen Beach Pier (tickets are typically around 30 Baht each way).

2. Walk the Boardwalk: Once you arrive at Tawaen Pier, instead of heading down to the main beach, follow the marked wooden walkway to the right around the cliffside to arrive at Sangwan Beach within a few minutes.

3. Speedboat Alternative: You can also charter or join a shared speedboat from Pattaya beach directly to the shores of Koh Larn.
