The Beaches of Koh Larn

Koh Larn has six main beaches and a few smaller ones not mentioned here. All of the beaches are of white sand and clear azure waters. You will find food services restrooms and showers at all beaches as well.  Accommodations can be had at both Samae and Tawaen beaches.  Beach chairs run around 50 Baht (new price) at most places. Because you are paying for beach chairs you can bring along your own food and drinks if you like and save a little money. Some of the taxi drivers offer around the island tours with a brief stop at each beach for you to have a short look, at each beach, then off to the beach you like the most. Cost for around the island tours run around 400 Baht. You could opt to rent a motorbike for 200 Baht a day, be sure you know how to handle a motorbike.

Samae Beach located on the west side of Koh Larn measures just over 500 meters in length. Samae Beach seems to be a bit cooler to me because there are more breezes coming through. The sand is a little grainy but still feels nice to the feet if walking or playing barefoot. There are many restaurants along the beach serving up almost anything your pallet would desire.

        A recent long awaited addition to Samae Beach is a fairly large resort at the south end of the beach called Xanadu. This resort sports over a hundred rooms, several dining areas, and a conference room large enough to seat well over a hundred persons. More...

By far the most popular beach on Koh Larn, this beach receives 2,000 to 5,000 and more visitors daily. With over 25 restaurants of any style cuisine you can imagine the hardest part is deciding what you want to eat. Sea food is the most dominant choice of visitors and it is as fresh as you can get, some of it straight from the boat to you.  You can also order your meal while lounging in your beach recliner. About 30 or so souvenir and specialty shops line the walk way where you can get anything from sea shell ornaments to tee-shirts and swimwear.

        For those that like to swim you will enjoy the swimming areas that are separated from all boating for your safety. The slope of this beach is very gradual into the water and this makes wading easy especially for children. There are also jet ski rentals here and many other activities you to enjoy.

       There are by estimate 150 rooms for rent at various resorts along the beach walkway. Most of them are set back away from the beach itself which makes it quiet for when you want to have a nap.       Tien Beach is the more picturesque of beaches on Koh Larn in my opinion. The beach chair rental here is 100 Baht but these are the much more comfortable deck type lounger chairs well worth it for the extra comfort. All the regular swimming areas and water sports are here. There are also many restaurants here as well. If you come by Baht bus there is a short 5 min walk along a raised walkway. Nual Beach has changed much over the last few years. There was a huge resort planned but local protest put a stop to its development. Even still this is a very nice Beach to spend the day and there are still all the food and other services you will need. Tonglang Beach is not directly accessible by taxi you get to this beach mostly by boat. You can get here by a short hike down a trail with stairs or the man bridge from Tawaen Beach.  Not the best beach on Koh Larn but it seems to have a more cosey feel to it. Tayaiy

Tayaiy Beach is the smallest of the main beaches. There is one restaurant here and it has many of the same services you will find on the bigger beaches. This is a nice little beach and it doesn’t seem to get very crowded. I like the big rocks that jut out of the water at each end of the beach. Nice place to spend an easy day. More....
